Icaro Extension Dining Table
By Calligaris | Designer: Archirivolto
The Icaro Extension Dining Table Quickship by Calligaris, designed by Archirivolto, is a striking blend of sculptural design and everyday functionality. Defined by its bold, angled base, the table creates a strong architectural presence while maintaining a sense of balance and elegance.
The name "Icaro" (Icarus) is a direct nod to the table’s defining architectural feature: its bold, wing-like base. Instead of traditional corner legs or a single central column, the Icaro rests on two substantial, angled wooden legs. These sculpted, wing-like supports are positioned to provide maximum stability while drawing the eye upward toward the tabletop. The design balances gravity and lightness. While the thick wooden base provides a deeply grounded, organic feel, the top is often finished in sleek ceramic and appears to float delicately above the metal sub-frame.
Calligaris is a master of transformable furniture, and the Icaro is engineered to expand effortlessly without disrupting its sculptural look. It utilizes a coplanar extension system with two independent leaves stored beneath the main top. You can easily pull out one or both leaves to adjust the table length to your exact needs.
The Icaro table is built for those who want a dramatic, architectural statement piece that doesn't compromise on durability or flexibility. Because the sculpted legs are positioned toward the center rather than the extreme corners, it offers excellent legroom, making it perfect for dynamic households that frequently pivot from intimate family meals to large dinner parties.
