The Magma Coffee Table by Fiam Italia, designed by Patrick Jouin, is a contemporary coffee table that blends refined craftsmanship with expressive material design. Inspired by the fluid and organic nature of molten stone, the Magma table features surfaces that evoke the texture and depth of natural geological formations.
The masterpiece of this design is its 12 mm thick fused and tempered glass top. Fired twice inside a special mold, the glass transitions from a smooth liquid state into a solid sheet, intentionally retaining organic irregularities and ripples. Because it mimics a natural, living material, no two tables are completely identical. The top is back-painted to create dramatic depth, offering two completely different moods depending on your space: Metallic Paints: Glossy, high-impact options like Brilliant Black, Brilliant Brown, Moka, or Night Blue that catch the light with an intense, liquid-like sheen; Semi-Transparent Finishes: Earthy, moody choices like Smoke Grey, Amber, Blue, or a soft Natural Satin Effect that let light filter through the ripples, casting subtle shadows on the floor.
To ground the ethereal, fluid look of the glass, Jouin designed a substantial, geometric base carved from solid wood. Available in a warm Tobacco finish or a sleek, heat-treated black open-pore finish, it provides a sturdy, tactile contrast to the top.
The Magma coffee table brings an intentional, "incisive sophisticated" energy to a room.
