The Maxim Round Dining Table by Cattelan Italia, designed by renowned designers Pio and Tito Toso, is a sculptural masterpiece that seamlessly blends artistic expression with contemporary Italian craftsmanship. Defined by its striking pedestal base and elegant round glass top, Maxim transforms the dining table into a sophisticated focal point that elevates any modern interior.
The table’s distinctive base features a series of gracefully curved, petal-like forms that create a dynamic architectural composition while maintaining visual lightness and balance. It can be finished in two distinct ways:
- Clay-Spatulated Cement, an earthy, textured, and natural tones such as Havana (AR04), Cairo (AR05), Oslo (AR09), or Marrakech (AR11). The base is formed using a cold-molding technique that requires minimal energy. Liquid cement is poured into a mold, and then meticulously hand-finished by master artisans. Because it is cast and finished by hand, the base intentionally retains natural features such as small air holes, color streaks, and slight surface irregularities. These are not defects, but celebrated markers of its handcrafted origin.
- Oxy Coating, which is a premium resin finish that is hand-brushed to mimic weathered metallics, available in Oxybrass (warm, muted gold tones) or Oxygrey (industrial, metallic charcoal).
The top features a 12 mm thick transparent tempered glass (available in clear or beveled extra-clear glass), allowing the sculptural base to remain fully visible, highlighting its artistic character from every angle. This option is highly favored because the crystal-clear glass makes the table feel light and airy, putting the three-petal base on display from every angle. The top can also be finished in Maxim Argile. This version scales up the organic aesthetic by swapping the glass for an MDF wood top that is completely spatulated in natural clay (Argile), matching the base. This monochromatic, all-clay structure gives the table a raw, earthy, and uniform appearance. (The clay option is durable enough that select configurations are used for luxury outdoor dining).
The glass top can be ordered with both the Clay-Spatulated Cement base and the Oxy Coating base, while the Clay-Spatulated Cement top can only be ordered with the same material base.
