If you’re drawn to the Planer Glass dining table, you’re looking at the design that started the entire Planer revolution for Cattelan Italia. While the wood and ceramic versions have their own charms, the glass version is the truest, purest form of Paolo Cattelan’s original vision. It is an exercise in architectural suspension—a table designed to let your room breathe while making a quiet, high-design statement.
The absolute best reason to choose the glass top is that it doesn’t hide the party happening underneath. Because the surface is completely transparent, it acts like a magnifying glass for the stunning steel engineering below. If you can, always opt for the Extra-Clear Glass. Standard glass has a natural iron content that gives the edges a faint green bottleshade tint. Extra-clear glass is highly filtered to eliminate that tint, giving you absolute, water-clear transparency that doesn't distort the color of your flooring or rugs. The edges feature a reverse bevel, meaning the glass angles downward and inward at the perimeter. This catches the ambient light of your dining room and makes a heavy, thick piece of tempered glass look incredibly delicate, almost like it's floating.
The soul of this table is its intersecting steel base. Instead of four boring legs stuck on the corners, Planer utilizes a central, architectural trestle system with sharp, geometric cuts. It’s a bit of an optical illusion: when you look at it from the side, it looks robust, solid, and structural.
