If you love the conversational, cozy vibe of a circular table but want to avoid the boring "single pole pedestal" look that dominates the market, the Planer Round by Cattelan Italia is an absolute triumph.
While the Planer Round is available in a few different materials, the Glass-top version is the purest, most popular expression of this design. Because a round table naturally focuses everyone's attention inward toward the center, a transparent top means your guests get to appreciate the gorgeous metalwork beneath throughout the entire meal. If you have a beautiful rug or a gorgeous wood floor you want to show off, choose the Extra-Clear Glass option. Regular glass has a natural iron content that leaves a faint greenish tint along the edge. Extra-clear is heavily filtered to be water-pure and crystal-clear. The heavy, 15 mm thick glass features a beautifully beveled edge. This slanted border catches and reflects the ambient lighting in your dining room, making a massive, sturdy sheet of tempered glass look like it’s floating delicately on a bed of steel.
The soul of the table is its base. Instead of a standard, blocky pillar or four legs stuck on the outer rim, the Planer features an intersecting web of tubular steel with bold, geometric cuts. When you look at it straight on, it looks heavy, solid, and structural. But as you walk around it, the angles shift, opening up beautiful negative spaces that keep the table from looking bulky or crowding your room. You can tailor the vibe easily: go with textured matte finishes (Titanium, Bronze, Graphite, or Black) for a moody, industrial feel, or upgrade to Brushed Bronze or Brushed Grey for a hand-applied, luxury metallic sheen.
The Planer Round stands at a standard height of 29½" and is built in two primary sizes to fit everything from an intimate penthouse nook to a dedicated square dining room. The 63” diameter is an ideal size for everyday use. It can comfortably seat 6 to 8 guests without anyone feeling squeezed. The 71” diameter is perfect for dedicated, larger dining spaces, hosting 8 to 10 guests beautifully while creating an incredible, communal focal point.
