If you love the intimate, social vibe of a circular dining table but want to completely steer clear of the sterile glass-and-metal looks or the boring "single pole" wood pedestals that flood the market, the Plisset Round Glass Table is an absolute work of art. Designed by Raffaello Galiotto for Cattelan Italia, it breaks every rule of traditional industrial design. It feels less like a manufactured piece of furniture and more like a classical sculpture that you just happen to eat dinner on.
The absolute soul of the Plisset is its single central pedestal. It is carved out of matte Palissandro White Marble, but it pulls off an incredible optical illusion: it doesn't look like rigid, hard stone at all. Instead, the marble is meticulously chiseled into deep, continuous vertical pleats that mimic the look of flowing drapery or a heavy silk gown caught in a gentle breeze. Because of these ridges and valleys, the base interacts with the light in your room beautifully. As the sun moves through your windows during the day, it casts shifting, high-contrast shadows and soft white highlights along the column, meaning the table literally changes character from breakfast to dinner time.
To hide a base this beautiful beneath a solid wood or stone top would be a design tragedy. The transparent glass top acts like a water-clear canvas that keeps your dining room feeling incredibly light, open, and airy, while ensuring the draped marble underneath is the star of the show from every angle. It features a beautifully beveled (slanted) edge. This border acts like a prism, catching the ambient light or a hanging chandelier and throwing subtle glimmers around the perimeter. The standard tempered glass has a natural iron content that leaves a faint, greenish bottle-shade tint along its edge profile. If you want the marble to look pure and un-tinted from above, choose the Extra-Clear Glass option. It is heavily filtered to give you water-pure transparency, making the heavy, 15 mm thick surface look completely weightless.
A lot of people worry that a modern glass table will feel cold or clinical. But the Plisset Round does the exact opposite. Circular tables naturally soften the harsh, boxy lines of nearby walls, kitchen islands, and doorways. Combined with the romantic, historical warmth of the hand-finished Italian marble base, it instantly makes a space feel high-fashion, deeply artistic, and incredibly welcoming.
