River Bed
By Huppé | Designer: Joel Dupras
The River Bed by the upscale Canadian design house Huppé is an exceptionally elegant, soulful masterclass in mid-century modern refinement and warm minimalism. Visionary designer Joël Dupras beautifully channels 1950s design aesthetics—characterized by clean lines, softened angles, and a light, architectural footprint—and reimagines them for the upscale contemporary home.
Handcrafted to order in Canada, the River bed is built around a striking interaction between rich, premium solid hardwoods and texturally soft upholstery, making it a timeless, comforting centerpiece for any modern bedroom sanctuary.
Standing at a stately 50 inches tall, the headboard is framed by a robust border of premium solid wood. This solid wood frame gracefully outlines the inner padded region, creating a crisp, tailored boundary that highlights Huppé’s legendary woodworking pedigree. The entire platform framework is held aloft by slightly tapered, angled solid wood legs. This thoughtful architecture elevates the heavy bed completely off the ground, infusing the substantial platform with an airy sense of weightlessness and transparency. The bed can be specified in solid QS (Quarter Sawn) Blackened Walnut or White Ash in various stains. The walnut option gracefully changes color over time, transitioning from a neutral grey-brown hue into a deep, warm caramel brown.
Queen Bed Footprint: 69" W x 86 1/2" D x 50" H

The Huppé River Bed is tailor-made for design purists, contemporary metropolitan penthouses, or upscale residences that appreciate a warm, organic approach to minimalism. It functions as an extraordinary sculptural centerpiece, pairing flawlessly alongside its matching River Sculpted-Front Nightstands and 6-Drawer Dressers (which feature beautiful handle-free drawers and solid wood tops). It is the absolute ultimate choice for anyone who demands authentic, eco-conscious Canadian craftsmanship that values classic mid-century warmth and timeless sophistication over passing trends.
