The Scott Masterwood Dining Table combines sculptural architecture with the warmth of solid wood craftsmanship. Its distinctive boat-shaped Masterwood top in Canaletto walnut or Burned oak is composed of expertly joined planks, highlighting the natural grain while creating a soft, organic silhouette. Below, a bold geometric base in embossed lacquered steel forms intersecting volumes that give the table a dynamic, modern presence and exceptional stability.
If you love the bold, architectural drama of a sculptural metal base but want your dining room to feel warm, organic, and deeply inviting, the Scott Masterwood dining table (designed by Studio 28 for Cattelan Italia) is the ultimate masterpiece. It takes the gallery-worthy, masculine steel base of the standard Scott table and crowns it with the most intricate, complex, and tactile wooden surface Cattelan Italia has ever created.
The absolute defining feature of the Scott table is its striking central pedestal. Instead of standard legs or a simple boring cylinder, the base is formed by two curved, overlapping metal plates. The metal plates are cleverly designed to mimic the crisp, folded look of a tailored shirt collar. It creates a rigid, highly architectural optical effect with well-defined edges that play beautifully with the ambient light in your room. While you can order the base in standard embossed lacquers (like Textured Titanium or Bronze), Cattelan Italia introduced a bespoke finish specifically for this table called Oxybrass. It is a completely hand-brushed, oxidized brass finish that subtly darkens as it reaches the floor, giving the cold industrial metal an incredibly warm, rich, and tonal depth.
