The Skorpio Crystalart Dining Table pairs dramatic artistry with architectural structure, transforming the dining space into a refined focal point. If you are in love with the iconic, architectural look of Cattelan Italia’s famous Skorpio base, but you find solid wood too heavy and clear glass just a little too plain, the Skorpio CrystalArt (designed by Andrea Lucatello) is the ultimate masterpiece. It takes the most famous dining base in modern Italian furniture and crowns it with a high-gloss, digitally printed art glass canvas. It gives you the moody, dramatic swirls of rare minerals with the reflective, light-filtering bounce of an upscale glass table.
The absolute soul of the Skorpio is its intersecting steel base. Instead of four standard corner legs or a bulky central pillar, the base is a complex web of heavy-duty steel blades that crisscross in the center of the floor. The genius of this design is how it plays with visual weight. From one angle, the base looks like a solid, heavy steel hourglass. Take two steps to the left, and it suddenly opens up into an airy, transparent starburst. It is available in stunning abstract variations like CY01 (warm, creamy amber, gold, and mineral veins) and CY02 (contemporary, moody strokes of slate gray, charcoal, and silver tones). The outer perimeter features a reverse-beveled edge cut. This slanted border catches room lighting, softening the transition from the top to the frame and creating a gleaming, crystal-like halo around the entire table.
